The best apple pie recipes
Here is a delicious and classic recipe for apple pie:
Ingredients:
- 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
- 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (about 6-7 medium-sized apples)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 
- Roll out one pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the edges and set aside. 
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix until the apples are evenly coated. 
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust. Dot the top with the butter. 
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple filling. Trim the edges and crimp the edges of the crusts together with a fork or your fingers to seal. 
- Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. 
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg. 
- Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. 
- Let the pie cool completely before serving.
