There's nothing quite like a warm cup of hot cocoa on a chilly day. And what's even better than hot cocoa? Hot cocoa with homemade whipped cream on top! This delicious treat is sure to warm you up from the inside out. Here's how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.

  2. Add the hot water and whisk until smooth.

  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a simmer.

  4. Add the milk and continue to heat until hot, but not boiling.

  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  6. Pour the hot cocoa into mugs and top with a dollop of whipped cream.

To make the whipped cream:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

  2. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.

  3. Use a spoon or piping bag to add a dollop of whipped cream to each mug of hot cocoa.
