Fire Baked Oysters

  • 12 fresh oysters, scrubbed clean
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is well combined.

  3. Place the cleaned oysters on a baking sheet or a large cast-iron skillet.

  4. Spoon a small amount of the garlic herb butter onto each oyster.

  5. Place the baking sheet or skillet in the preheated oven and bake the oysters for 10-12 minutes or until the butter is melted, and the oysters are cooked through.

  6. Remove the baking sheet or skillet from the oven, and serve the oysters immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

  7. To eat, use an oyster knife to loosen the oyster from its shell, and then slurp the oyster and the garlic herb butter from the shell.
