 Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan and set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.

  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, honey, and sugar until well combined.

  4. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, whisking until just combined.

  6. Stir in the red wine and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Slice and serve the cake with a dusting of powdered sugar and a glass of red wine.
